#Truth – Start a revolution.
There are things to know. This is not about the election. However, we are 18 days until the most controversial, debated and scary election we have experienced in our lifetime. We, the people, are more divided than ever before. The stakes are high. George Bush, Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford were the last presidents to serve only 4 terms. So more than likely we are electing an 8-year president.
As important as the presidency, the position of the Supreme Court hangs in the balance as five seats are expected to be filled in the next 8 years. The supreme court weaves the moral fabric of our country deciding on things like gay marriage, immigration, affirmative action, health care, abortion and issues we haven’t even seen yet.
We are at a crossroads. We are not going to change the world by standing still.
#Truth – Seek Truth
All eyes are on two people—the Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and the Republican challenger Donald Trump. We are embroiled in an ugly exchange of semi-truths and bold lies. The transparency is crazy – these two candidates don’t even lie well. Not that lying well is a good trait.
We have moved to a place in our country where truth neither matters or is held as a standard. The very idea of truth as an absolute has been cast aside. Does absolute truth exist in our world? Does it still exist in your world? It’s been a running joke for years, but it’s time to remember – you can’t believe everything you read on the internet. Facebook, Twitter and even are a large part of our media are not reliable sources.
More and more people are signing off Facebook and Twitter to escape the nasty and hateful exchange of rhetoric. But others remain and participate causing more divisiveness and discord. Unfortunately, Christians are no exception. Simply, people are not heeding their words.
Ephesians 4:29 – Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
This not just in social setting or at church – it’s at home, in the office, on facebook, on twitter. Don’t follow the lead of those who intend to lead us.
#Truth – Speak Truth
I challenge you over the next 18 days and beyond – speak TRUTH to raise up. Flood social media with #Truth – positive talk, uplifting and grace-filled. Bring forth motivation, encouragement and a positive outlook. On November 9th, we know who will still be in charge. On November 9th, God will still be King. Max Lucado says it perfectly – read here.
The Bible is clear; Christians are told to pray, to seek God’s guidance for our political leaders. We are falling to darkness when we allow ourselves to be consumed with fear, bitterness, anger and frustration. S.T.O.P. God is in control. Look to Him and speak #truth.
The bible says God works in the hearts of our leaders. We must pray for whoever ends up in the white house. Pray now that God will be working in their hearts, paving the way and guiding our country. We must pray for the divide in this country to be healed. We must pray for strength, courage and grace. We know that only God can work all things together for the good. He is ultimately in charge and we as believers have the power to change the voice that is being heard. We need to raise our voices in truth. #Truth
