Have you heard God speak? I mean really speak loudly right at you? I started the God-Sight blog 5 years ago. I began writing it because every so often, in the most random places and most random circumstances, God would yell at me. Ok – maybe not yell, but you know that tone of voice that sounds like yelling but is really just a tone and the decimal count doesn’t actually go up? Yeah, that one.
Ever since becoming a believer, actually even before that so I guess my whole life, there have been times I thought at best I was only hearing God whisper. And, other times, I was running into God “sightings”, God “messages”, everywhere I turned. These are the times, I say God is really loud …and sometimes has a bit of a tone!
I spent 25 years in the corporate-ish world, 10 years working in ministry, and the last two years trying to figure out where God wants me. Listening for whispers, hoping for shouts. Have you been there? I’ve lived in a world where I could do things, fix things, prove things, build things, show things – focused on accomplishment. But the last few months I have been increasingly moving away from the “doing”, edging closer to where I think God has been leading me … maybe all along. God has been pushing me to be more vulnerable, completely transparent, focused on others.
The past week, God has definitely had a tone with me. Uh no – I don’t actually hear His voice, though that would be cool – also incredibly terrifying! It’s more a knowing. A knowing that this message is for me. An awareness when I see or hear a scripture, or story, or circumstance over and over in a 4-day span – ah got it! – this ones for me. So I have heard 3 times in 3 days – take a stand. Stand in the crowd. Be heard. He gave me a voice and He is clearly saying use it. My story is long, winding and multi-faceted. I have often said wherever you are and wherever you’ve been, I too have been there and back again. Some stories are probably not for public consumption, but I have never been known for holding back. And if it helps you to know that you are not alone, yep I’ll go there.
Do you hear His voice? Do you hear Him guiding you, coaxing you, helping you find your path?
From the age of 12 to the age of 30, the Word of God is silent about the life of Jesus. All we know is that He grew into manhood as the son to Mary and Joseph. Around the age of 30, as Jesus began His public ministry, He went to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. As He came up from the water, the voice of God was heard, ” This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased.”

If you listen, really listen, you can hear His Will for your life. Maybe in a whisper or maybe in a shout but it’s there. Do you hear His voice? Every day, each and every day He says to you, “You are my beloved son or daughter, in whom I am well pleased.”
